In response to Kojo Oppong Nkrumah’s assertion that the Minority will only participate in the National Economic Forum if retrenched public sector workers are reinstated, Mantse Ayitey has dismissed the relevance of the NPP’s participation.
Ayitey argues that the NPP had eight years in power to address Ghana’s economic challenges but failed to deliver meaningful results. As a result, their presence at the upcoming Economic Forum is deemed unnecessary.
"We gave Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and the NPP eight years to govern, yet they failed to demonstrate any real solutions to our economic problems. Whether they participate in the National Economic Forum or not is irrelevant, the forum will go on regardless. If they had meaningful economic ideas, they would have implemented them during their tenure. Since they failed to improve the economy, they should keep their so-called ideas to themselves. Their presence or absence does not change the course of this forum," Ayitey stated.
He further emphasized that the NPP’s concerns about the forum are misplaced and that the current government is focused on engaging with stakeholders willing to contribute to Ghana’s economic recovery.
Despite the opposition’s threat to boycott the forum, organizers remain committed to proceeding with discussions aimed at shaping the country’s economic future.
