Corruption in health services is damaging development - Transparency Int’l

Ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all is vital for the development of individuals and societies. Corruption can undermine health services and make this very difficult to achieve.
Improving health is key to achieving almost all of the Sustainable Development Goals, the United Nation’s targets for ending poverty, protecting the planet and ensuring peace for all by 2030. Without good health, children can’t access education and adults can’t work. Climbing out of poverty becomes more difficult, as does reducing inequalities.
Embezzlement in Honduras
Honduras is among the poorest and most violent countries in the world, plagued with widespread corruption that affects almost every area of peoples’ lives. This includes their ability to access quality health services.
Marixa Ramírez ran Honduras’ central medication warehouse — the national medicine and healthcare supplies distributor — for 26 years until 2013.
That’s when the Asociación por una Sociedad más Justa (ASJ), Transparency International’s Honduran chapter, received allegations of widespread corruption in the warehouse through its Advocacy and Legal Advice Centre.
A week after ASJ presented its report and a formal complaint to the government, the Minister of Health ordered a thorough investigation.
In 2017, Ramírez was convicted of seven counts of embezzlement by the Sentencing Tribunal of Tegucigalpa, while other staff were also implicated. Not only did their fraud cost the state millions of dollars; it denied citizens access to the medication they needed.
ASJ acted as an official observer during the judicial process to make sure it was fair. It also influenced a systemic change: an independent trust has been appointed to manage the distribution of medication in Honduras. Alongside two other civil society organisations, ASJ has been tasked with monitoring the trust’s work.
Tackling corruption through the Sustainable Development Goals
Corruption in health services, like this case in Honduras, costs lives and undermines Sustainable Development Goal 3 on health. We need institutions that uphold good governance, rule of law and democracy, as they reduce opportunities for corruption and hold the corrupt to account.
To achieve this, governments should support peace, justice and strong institutions in line with Sustainable Development Goal 16 — which addresses corruption — and should annually review Goal 16’s progress at the Sustainable Development Goals High Level Political Forum.
Transparency International’s Advocacy and Legal Advice Centres provide free legal advice and assistance to victims and witnesses of corruption. Find out more at www.transparency.org/reportcorruption. ASJ’s Advocacy and Legal Advice Centre is partly funded by Global Affairs Canada under the IMPACT Grant.

BAWUMIA SHOULD FORGET HIS BOGUS PRESIDENTIAL AMBITION - KEN AGYAPONG

Hon Kennedy Agyapong
The member of parliament for Assin Central Hon Kennedy Agyapong has cautioned the vices president of Ghana Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia to desist from any presidential ambition because he will not get it.
He said this in an interview when asked the possibilities of the vice president succeeding the current president of Ghana, Nana Akuffo Addo.
Dr. Bawumia who is currently the vice president was the running mate for the current president since 2008 till 2016 when they won the general elections, but Mr. Agyapong is not in agreement with the idea for Bawumia's presidential candidacy after his boss.
Hon. Agyapong happens to be one of the huge financiers of the party in government NPP, he was asked to explain the reasons behind his disagreement with the idea, but he still stressed his concerns to disagree.

"Bawumia should work and save the Ghana cedi and stop that nonsense presidential ambition"
These were his words.

One will say it was too hush, but the member of parliament thought it was cool to describe the situation.

With such an early attack on the vice president, we suspect that the maverick MP may have the ambition to contest the 2020 presidential elections. Who knows

Nana Tasks Tourism Ministry - GhanaHub News

President of The Republic of Ghana - Nana Akuffo Addo

PRESIDENT Akufo-Addo has tasked the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) to build on what he described as the pan-African legacy of Ghana's early leaders. He made the call in a statement at the 15th edition of the Ghana Tourism Awards on Friday, March 22, 2019. According to the president, "the pan-African legacy of our early leaders has never been in doubt and I have tasked the ministry and the Tourism Authority to build on this legacy and make Ghana a true heritage pilgrimage destination for our brothers and sisters from the diaspora.
" He described the tourism sector as one of the most important sectors of the Ghanaian economy and spoke about the interventions his administration has put in place to further develop the sector. He said, "Under my watch, the tourism sector is receiving the needed push with the elevation of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture to cabinet status.

The Tourism Authority has reported gains and growth across several indices visitor arrivals, per capita spend of visitors, number of establishments, number of tourist's facilities etc since we assumed the reins of government." The president explained that "I am also aware of several tourist sites improvement programs such as the Axim Fort St.
Antonio project, Assin Manso Slave River project, Tetteh Quarshie Cocoa Farm, Bunso Arboretum, Kintampo waterfalls, and the Elmina Heritage Bay project." He added that "this with the ongoing destination single window automation programme and the marketing programmes 'Visit Ghana, See Ghana, Eat Ghana, Wear Ghana and Feel Ghana' is all part of integral plans to transform the sector.
" According to him, "The ongoing $40 million World Bank Tourism development programme is also an added bonus to this drive to make our tourism sector grow." Mr.
Akufo-Addo stressed that "tourism is a multi-sector industry and the various other sectors roads, skills development, sanitation, aviation, and the visa regime are all being tackled in a multi-sectoral way for the needed impact." He indicated that "the theme chosen for today's event, 'celebrating our heritage' resonates with the 'Year of Return' project which I proudly launched in front of the Congressional Black Caucus of the United States Congress, in September 2018." He added that "as we celebrate the award winners, it must be a clarion call for all of us within the sector and its value chain to be ready for the take-off.

Fruits that Burn Fat Like Crazy - Mantse Ayitey

Losing weight is not easy. Our bodies evolved to store fat to protect against periods of famine, but since millions of us are now eating way more than our bodies need, we end up with too much fat. To lose it, you need to trick your body into thinking you really are starving by taking in fewer calories than you burn.

Luckily, beyond calorie restriction, there are a few things you can do to jumpstart and extend your weight loss in a healthy way. Fruits that contain the antioxidant anthocyanin (a flavonoid) have been shown in multiple studies to increase the effects of a weight loss diet. You can usually spot an anthocyanin-rich fruit because it will be some shade of red or purple. Here are 7 great ones to add to your daily meal plan.

1. Tart Cherries

Tart cherries are a fantastic thing to eat when you’re trying to lose weight. The University of Michigan did a rat study in which it determined that over the course of 12 weeks, rats fed tart cherries had a 9% greater reduction in belly fat than rats fed a so-called Western diet. The cherries actually altered the way the animals’ fat genes worked.
Tart cherries have also been linked to heart health and a reduction in inflammation, making them a great all-around choice.

2. Berries of All Kinds

This is great news because you won’t get bored with every type of berry to choose from. Fruits in this category are full of healthy polyphenols, which not only help you lose weight, they actually stop fat from forming. A study out of Texas Women’s University discovered that mice who received 3 daily servings of berry or berry powder reduced the expected formation of fat cells by 73%.
Berries are fantastic plain, sprinkled into oatmeal, yogurt, or salads, and even dried or powdered. With this many options, it should be easy to get a little berry with each of your meals.

3. Watermelon

We may avoid watermelon on the assumption that it is mostly sugar and well, water, but it is actually quite healthy for you. According to the University of Kentucky, eating watermelon may lower your fat accumulation and improve lipid profiles to boot.
Watermelon juice is also credited with a reduction in post-workout muscle soreness. Though largely a summer fruit, when it’s available, you should feel free to have all the watermelon you want.

4. Ruby Red Grapefruit

This breakfast staple is great for reducing belly fat and lowering cholesterol levels. In fact, participants in a six-week study who ate grapefruit with every meal shrunk their waists by an inch on average. Researchers think the reason is down to the powerhouse combination of phytochemicals and vitamin C found in this citrus fruit.
Grapefruit is fun to eat, too. Simply slice it in half and scoop out the segments with a spoon. It also gives a nice tart zing to salads.

5. Pink Lady Apples

Apples, in general, are a great source of soluble fiber, which becomes gel-like in your stomach and helps you feel full longer. The Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center reports that every time you build in 10 more grams of soluble fiber to your diet, belly fat reduces by 3.7% over a five-year period.
That means that apples can assist your weight loss by cutting food cravings, as well as continue to slim your waistline years into the future. Pink Lady apples have been found to have the most flavonoid antioxidants, making them top among a lot of great apple varieties for weight loss.

6. Nectarines, Peaches & Plums

This family of fruits (stone fruits) is known to help prevent metabolic syndrome, which is simply a name for a group of risk factors tied to obesity and obesity-related diseases. Diabetes is the prime example of a metabolic disorder, and belly fat is a serious risk factor for it.
Stone fruits are high in phenolic compounds that play a part in instructing the behavior of fat genes. They are also lower in sugars than many other fruits, making them ideal for dieters.

7. Pears

Despite being so sweet in taste, pears are predominantly water and fiber, two things that really aid weight loss. You will stay full longer, even though a 100 gram serving of pear only has 56 calories. The fiber also supports healthy digestion and elimination, so that you don’t feel bogged down and bloated.
As a bonus, vitamin C and vitamin A in pears fight free radical damage and reduce inflammation. That helps you look younger and feel great overall. Just be sure to choose fresh or frozen pears, as canned pears tend to be packed in sugary syrup.

When you’re on a diet, fruit should be your primary source of sugar. It’s something that the body needs for fuel, but the refined sugars in so many processed foods are excessive and harmful. You don’t need to worry about the sugar in fruit very much as long as you eat the whole fruit rather than just the juice. The fiber you’ll get helps modulate the release of sugar into your bloodstream, avoiding a spike and sudden drop in glucose levels. That’s important not only to protect against type 2 diabetes but also to reduce the food cravings that happen when your blood sugar crashes.
Aim to eat at least a serving of one of these fruits with each meal to amplify your weight loss results – and to enjoy the sweet flavor that’s a gift from nature. Best of luck on your weight loss journey!

(EXPOSED) REV. OWUSU BEMPAH EATS ONE PARROT ONCE A YEAR FOR FAME - FORMER PASTOR REVEALED

A former pastor of the Endtime Power Ministries headed by the controversial prophet of God Rev. Owusu Bempah has come out to reveal certain secrets of the man of God.
The pastor who wishes to stay anonymous says; he left the church after discovering the wildest secrete of the reverend minister.
He says one night he visited the man of God at his residence in East Legon a suburb of Accra and slept over.
According to his story, at dawn he heard several squawks which is obviously the sound of parrots; he said the sounds were so terrifying and the next moment he heard opening of a door in the house, so with curiosity he tried to secretly open his door to find who at this time of the night could opened a door in such silent manner, unfortunately he saw no one.
The ex-servant of the church said; within the shortest possible time after the sound of the opening door the squawks from the parrots stopped. According to him, the situation at that moment was very bad and he could virtually sense some kind of heaviness on him so he resorted to prayer.

I spoke in tongues for about 5min and I started hearing footsteps walking in front of my door so I quickly opened my door to check the person, and i saw it was my prophet "Rev. Owusu Bempah".

The pastor said; the prophet was actually having a killed parrot in his hand with blood stains on his pajamas.
The pastor says he inquired of the prophet about the killed parrots and the prophet replied, he just killed it at the backyard, they were making too much noise. I believed him until I watched his interview on Metro Tv with Paul Adom Octhere on Good Evening Ghana when he was asked by Paul Adom otchere whether he rears parrots in his house and the man of God was surprised.
Sometime back Paul Adom Otchere interviewed Mallam Shamuna Uztaz who claimed to have hacked into Rev Owusu Bempah's house and saw several parrots in the house which belongs to the prophet. And the reverend minister confirmed that revelation was true.
You may watch the following video for confirmation
The former pastor of Rev Owusu Bempah said; after that interview he got scared of the man of God and decided to pray to God for a revelation about the true spirit with which the prophet operate.

"God gave me the revelation and I wept".

In the revelation, the former pastor said he saw his head pastor feeding parrots, and asked the prophet why he was feeding them? the prophet said it was only for spiritual purposes. Then he told me in the revelation that this is what he uses to maintain fame and to carry on with his ministry.
I further asked him how possibly could this be true?   how can parrots make your ministry and fame powerful? and he said he feeds on them once a year to maintain his fame and power.
He said upon this revelation i decided to stop the church and move on with my life.
